3/4 c shortening
1 c brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c molasses
2 1/4 c flour
2 t baking soda
1 t cinnamon
1 t ginger
1/2 t cloves
1/4 t salt
Granulated sugar
Mix shortening, sugar, egg, and molasses. Blend in remaining ingredients except granulated sugar. Chill 1 hour. Heat oven to 350. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls. Dip into granulated sugar. Bake 10-12 minutes on an ungreased baking sheet.
